All I want for Christmas is to see my family together again. The last time we were together was seven years ago, we didn’t have all the luxuries we have today, but we the luxury of being a family; all eight of us include Nana, Papa, Aunt Katie, Aunt Michelle, Mom, Dad, Ellie (my sister) and me. We were the family displayed on the christmas commercials, the family that looks too good to be true, but for us it was reality. Every year we would look forward to Papa’s golden glazed ham and the smell of Nana’s cherry pie and Aunt Michelle’s drunken jokes. The memories are so faint but too joyful to let them drift away. Now my Christmas’s are rushed and awkward with a burnt ham and sloppy pie, no dad and distance aunts, same Christmas decorations but no Christmas spirit. It’s amazing how time flies; how we forget to enjoy things while we have them. It’s also amazing how things change so slow yet too fast to notice. So for now, I will dream of my old Christmas’s and soldier though the new ones and hold on as long as I can to the memories I managed to store away in the back of my head.
