“What would you like for Christmas?”

This question is asked every year and the truth is, a few things come to mind. A new phone, boots, that necklace I saw in the mall a few days ago…but what about the things money can’t buy? Materialistic things only last so long, and while they make me happy for a while, is it making a difference in my own life or those around me? How about this: I want a successful and promising future. I want to be young forever. I want the horrid inevitability of death to no longer exist so no one has to lose those whom they love ever again. I’d even take the perspective of a beauty pageant finalist and ask for world peace. To put it simply, I could write a book the size of Twilight filled with this stuff. Scratch that, I could write the whole saga full of things I want that money can’t buy. This is why, when I am asked what I would like for Christmas, you may find me taking a deep breath, putting a finger on my chin, or with my eyes to the ceiling as if the answer is there written in plain sight. You ask me want I want for Christmas and after growing up seeing things and becoming aware that there are more people besides me in this world, I have finally formed my answer. I want a lot of wishes on shooting stars for myself and the world, but the things I wish for and the things I want don’t have a price tag. They’re not even in Santa’s bag. The things I want, money can’t buy.
