Taylor: A Family United

Karmyn Taylor, Contributing Writer

All I want for Christmas is for my family to be united again. Like how it was when I was a little girl. When I was seven years old, my number one Christmas wish to Santa was a big doll house. I wanted it to have the perfect furniture and a set of barbie dolls to make up an even more perfect family. I couldn’t complain, in my eyes my family was beyond perfect.

It was filled with happiness and no problems. It was always family first. Before the fights, divorces, and deaths. When we could all hang out in the house without the uncomfortable awkwardness. When I felt real laughter and right at home. When we were all brought together for the holidays, especially Christmas. Before my Pappy passed away and my family split. Or back to before my grandparents flew back home to Barbados after 37 years. All the befores and the past should dictate your future. It’s an easy gift for us all to come together for Christmas. You never know which one will be your last one. And if I did know, then I would want the last one to be together.
