Striving to be the best with years of hard work sophomore Lillian Harlow was nominated for best youth actress in the “Lion King” musical for the Dallas region.

Once all the votes were in on Dec. 31 Harlow finished in third place out of 12 nominees.

The musical that fueled her youth career was her role as Rafiki based on the well known Disney film, “The Lion King.”

“I loved playing Rafiki in the musical because he was a very silly character I could have fun with,” Harlow said.

The Resolute Theater Project was the theater company that Harlow performed with when she was nominated for the best youth actress award.

”It’s hard to only pick one of my favorite musicals because I’ve been apart of many great shows,” Harlow said. “My top pick would have to be ‘Grease’ because I loved the music and costumes.”

Musicals consist of singing, dancing and acting that tie the whole show together and to have a successful musical the actors show their passion through these components.

Harlow said her favorite is singing because she feels the strongest and most powerful with all the lights on her while her voice is booming over the crowd.

“I have met lifetime friends I will never forget because we grew as a family and they made this whole experience amazing and overall I wouldnt change one thing about it, “ Harlow said.
