David Hoyt
David Hoyt has trouble believing that he’s a senior in high school. He can still vividly recall that one moment in second grade when his elementary school principal told him he was going to college. He did not believe her, and replied that he’s “Never ever ever going to graduate high school because 2017 is like forever in the future!” He also adamantly believed that he would somehow die in a freak accident before 2017. Now, reality is slapping him in the face like a dirty sock that’s soaked in chicken grease. 2017 is only a few months away and he’s sincerely crossing his fingers and hoping that his prediction about the freak accident somehow doesn’t come true, because he now wants to graduate this year and go to college next year. His age, however, is a bit more complex. Physically, he is 17 years old, but intellectually, he is somewhere in his thirties. That’s not all. Maturity-wise, he’s a 6 year-old, and his pseudonymous age varies, depending upon the position he wakes up in the morning. If he wakes up comfortably, he’s 21. If he wakes up in a puddle of his own drool, he’s 12. And if he wakes up with his dog sitting on his chest and pooping on his face, he’s an angry and bitter 72 year-old man. All this confusion has caused him to have a bit of a mid-life crisis. He was genuinely surprised when the movie theatre would not give him a senior discount because he “didn’t look old enough” and earlier this morning had an emotional meltdown in Physics C where he crawled under a desk, and began to loudly weep. Despite this, he is still optimistic about the future and wants to work towards making the world a better place.
